It started with a kiss…
My grandson who was 11 at the time complained that I was too big to kiss him in public…
In Sept 2004 I weighed 95kg. Now this would have been ok if I was 195 cm tall (6’4”) but I was 160cm (5’3”) I’d had 5 years of really bad health including having angina which resulted in my right coronary artery needing to have a Stent fitted, followed by a major back operation and to top it all off my knees were getting worse from carry my weight. I was in all tense a typical lady with a serious weight problem – what did I do about it – nothing but just kept on eating and adding to the problem day after day.
To make matters worse I was a Facilities Manager for a major company and one of my many responsibilities was running a successful food and beverage operation which included a visitor’s centre, corporate entertaining and many private functions and events. We even had our own bar and restaurant. The turnover was about $2 million per year and we had a team of 25 + people in the operation. So every day I would be around food and drink and sampling the goodies was becoming an art!
I was in the city one day at a meeting and feeling my usual self, fat, frump and 50. My self esteem had gradually disappeared as the weight continued to pile on. I saw an old friend who looked absolutely incredible! She had lost loads of weight, got herself a new hair style and looked completely different. She told m she had been on the Cambridge Diet…
I called her Cambridge Diet Counsellor the same day, I saw her next and by the very next day I was on the diet. My husband thought I’d gone mad and as usual he was supportive by I could tell he thought I was on a “fad” diet and would be back to normal by the weekend!
14 weeks and 25kg later things were a lot different. I looked completely different, I did things different and people looked at me different too! The Cambridge Diet and my Counsellor changed my life. My husband had a new wife too boot!
My work colleagues were amazed when I went to the Christmas Party in the “little black dress” It was a size 12 and not a 20!
I eventually became a Counsellor myself in March 2006 and as the year went by I realised that I enjoyed doing this far more that I did then doing my other full time role. It was rewarding in so many ways. I started seeing clients at home on two evenings a week, then on a Saturday, followed by another night… In the end I stopped working on Fridays at my full time job just to see my clients… By Dec 2006 I was counselling over 40 clients a week.
It all gets a bit long winded here but when we were on holiday over the 2006 Christmas holidays we decided to start the ball rolling to immigrate to Australia. We have wanted to do this for at least 15 years but our children and grandchildren really still needed our support. Now they were older it was time for us to look forward to a new future.
One day I was on the Cambridge website and clicked on the Australian link and sent an email to the owner to ask if there was any possibility of becoming a counsellor in Melbourne or in Vic as this was where we wanted to live. Four months later I’m flying half way round the world to have a meeting with Agnieszka to discuss the possibility of taking on the distribution of the Cambridge Diet in Victoria!
When I got back to the UK we make a life changing decision to sell the house, give me notice in at the job I had done for the past 13 years, my husband closed down his building business and move to Victoria!
I arrived on the 31st Aug had stock delivered on the 6th Oct and on the 14th Oct “A Current Affair” ran a 4 min article on the Diet and how it was voted the “Best Diet In History” by Channel 4 TV in the UK. The next couple of weeks were totally mad…
I’ve bought a beauty salon in Ascot Vale and tunred it into the Cambridge Diet Clinic there including the VacuWell and the Power Plate. It’s directly across from the Melbourne Show Ground.
My husband has also trained as a Cambridge Counsellor.
I’ve identified a few people who want to be trained as Counsellors but they too will have had some weight to lose… Counsellors need to know what its like being on the diet. We are looking for prospective Counsellors in all areas of Vic, wherever there are people who need support we ideally should have a fully trained Cambridge Counsellor.
